snapshots of my (gluten-free) summer

These last few months have been some of the more challenging months I can remember. We had a couple family members pass, whom we loved dearly. We had some events happen that were unforeseen. I launched two companies- Locate Special Diet and Careio. And the best part of it all (the non-challenging portion obviously)… I got engaged to the love of my life last week. We couldn’t be more thrilled.

Since I haven’t been in my own kitchen cooking (my oven is broke, and I’ve been too lazy to get it fixed!), I thought I would share some snapshots of what has been happening this summer; through my favorite photo-sharing app: Instagram. If you are on Instagram, you can follow me @atxglutenfree or check out my pictures online here.

Gluten-free pad thai at Hai Ky in Austin (Westlake). Ask for the “old pad thai sauce” to make gluten-free.

An orange bike spotted at the Barton Creek Farmer’s Market. This farmer’s market, among others, has plenty of local gluten-free foods.

The gluten-free flourless cake at Gusto Italian Kitchen in Austin (they have gluten-free pasta and pizza)!

I’m so excited for the launch of my two companies- Locate Special Diet and Careio.

Locate Special Diet helps people find local businesses that cater to a gluten-free, vegetarian or organic lifestyle. The database has over 30,000 businesses in 30 U.S. cities and growing! The mobile application for iPhone, Android and iPad will be launching very soon.

Careio is a social network for those wanting to communicate about life experiences with family and friends in a more private space. We are accepting emails for our private beta phase right now. Sign up and we will make sure to send you an invite soon! (A more detailed blog post coming soon also).

A yoga class at Luna HQ in California. I recently had the honor of traveling to California and touring the Luna and Clif Bar HQ. Blog post coming soon, and a giveaway!

One of my dogs got to go on his first airplane flight (It didn’t go so well)! :)

Any tricks for traveling with pets?

Back to my happy place in Wyoming

The place where my fiance proposed!

There were bison all around us…

We’re engaged! And we are planning a gluten-free wedding… do you have any tips or tricks? I’ll make sure to post my gluten-free wedding tips and tricks that I learn along the way.

I helped plan my sister’s wedding this June. We found a local catering company who specialized in using in season local produce that cooked from scratch that would do a gluten free menu. It can’t hurt to look around the area you are planning to have your wedding at. Congratulations by the way!
