Did you know that there are over 300 symptoms associated with Celiac Disease?
Did you know that Celiac Disease affects 3 million Americans, yet 95% of sufferers don’t even know they have the disease?
Since my diagnosis, I have seen a large amount of gluten-free products hitting the shelves, and an increased amount of gluten-free options in restaurants (I talked about this on the news). I’m thankful for this. Not only because it makes my life easier (and yours), but it also means there has been an increased amount of awareness.
The National Foundation of Celiac Awareness is one of the leading forces behind this movement. They offer wonderful support and guidance. Last year, NFCA helped form a program that teaches primary care providers the ins and outs of Celiac diagnosis. This year, they plan to continue educating restaurants and food manufacturers about the risks of cross contamination through their program called GREAT Business Association. That isn’t it- they are always working hard to help increase awareness about Celiac Disease, and to help make your transition easier to a gluten-free lifestyle.
