Welcome to the third week in Tuesday Treasures. We hope you are enjoying the new series! The first two posts were on alcohol; so let’s wash it down with some spicy Mexican food. Las Palomas is a family owned Mexican restaurant located in Westlake Hills. It truly is a hidden gem; literally. A quaint Mexican restaurant tucked away in a strip mall center next to a post office and a gluten (AH!) bread store. Inside the restaurant, it is dimly lit with candles and faint music playing in the background. It is a perfect atmosphere for a date or a casual lunch with a friend. There are tables outside, which is where we sat.
Besides Maudies, they have one of the best gluten-free Mexican restaurant menus in Austin. It is an extensive menu with options for quesadillas, tacos, seafood dishes, fajitas, salads, vegetarian options and more. If you are looking for a hangover cure from our first two Tuesday Treasures post; look no further than a hot, steaming bowl of my favorite soup at Las Palomas- the Caldo Tlalpeno.
We had more of an appetite this time so we went with the full spread of their gluten-free tortilla chips and salsa (their salsa is amazing!), the verde chicken enchiladas, and the spicy pork tacos. Next time you are in the Westlake area, stop by and check out Las Palomas. You will be pleasantly surprised.
