Recently, I tested a carob chip cookie recipe for my dear bloggy friend, Amy Green, of Simply Sugar and Gluten-Free. She is about to release her first cookbook in January 2011 called: Simply Sugar & Gluten-Free, 120 Easy & Delicious Meals You Can Make in 20 Minutes or Less.
These cookies were amazing. I suggest you pre-order her book now!

Can you recommend a good carob chip? The ones I’ve found have been rather…gross.
Have you tried unsweetened carob chips before Mara?
This recipe sounds awesome. I following a gluten-free diet as this is very helpful. I also have a recipe blog where I post gluten free recipes.

I would love to hear what you think!
Thanks Maria. Your blog is great!
Thanks so much, Jessica!! I love these cookies…they’re so good. In fact, I’ve shared them with so many people and they’re always gobbled up with enthusiasm!
Mara – I think you’re probably eating sweetened carob chips. I like the unsweetened kind – they’re not strong like sweetened carob chips are.
You are so so welcome Amy! I am so excited to see your book. The cookies were delicious. I brought them to a dinner party that night and every single one of them was gobbled up by the end of the evening!
Those cookies look so yummy, Amy. I can hardly wait to get your book!
But the unsweetened carob chips have dairy in them, I believe, right? My son is dairy free so I chose the sweetened ones(hopefully more natural type of sugar?), since I couldn’t see that they had any milk products…I’ve tried the Enjoy Life chips too, but they also have sugar and are expensive….any other suggestions, besides making my own of course?
Hi Deb! I can’t wait for Amy’s book also. Have you pre-ordered it? I am actually not sure on dairy free chocolate alternatives that are lower in sugar. I will keep my eye out and let you know if I see anything. Maybe Amy knows of something?
I love the way your wrapped them up!
Thank you!
