ATX Gluten-Free News: April 2010, Part 2

This post is not an April Fool’s joke. I promise!

Things have been pretty hectic in my life recently, mainly with school. I can’t wait to finish this Master’s program! Some good news- I found a local web designer for my new ATX Gluten-Free website. There are a few exciting things coming up on the gluten-free front in Austin. Aren’t we blessed to live in such a great city?

Mama Fu’s: A pan-Asian restaurant with several locations in Austin/Central TX, as well as NC, AR, FL and GA. They are set to debut a gluten-free menu this year. Click here to see the full announcement.Mangieri’s Pizza: I recently ate at the Lakeway location and it was delicious. They offer 10 inch gluten-free pizzas using the local gluten-free pizza crust company, Gluten-Free Kneads.

GoodPop: A local popsicle company (great idea!), using all natural ingredients. ALL of the pops are gluten-free. The following flavors are gluten-free but not dairy-free: Coffee, Banana Cinnamon, Coconut, and Chocolate pops.  The gluten-free & dairy-free pops are: Soy Coconut pop and Pina Colada (Coconut milk base). They will be at the GoodPop Shop at 1003 Barton Springs, from 1-7  Thursday-Sunday during the Spring.  A select number of their flavors are also available at: Wheatsville Coop, Farm to Market Grocery, and coming soon to Whole Foods.

Bona Dea Bread: A local favorite of mine! They recently switched the due date for their gluten-free orders. It is now on Tuesday by 7 p.m. for Wednesday pick up. They have 4 neighborhoods for gluten-free drop off, which include:

• Congregation Beth Israel (CBI)/ ACE Academy
• Mueller
• Travis Heights
• Westlake

I am coming up with a list of bars in Austin that serve gluten-free beer (Redbridge or Greens). If you know of a bar, feel free to leave the name in the comment section below. So far, we have a great list! Thanks for your help!
